Pool House

This pool house was built for the messiest, best part of summer. Wet feet, a wall of sun hats, somebody always hunting for a towel. Cedar runs from the walls straight up and across the ceiling, so the whole building feels warm before you've even stepped inside, and sliding glass opens the dining and lounge right out onto a covered terrace. We furnished it top to bottom: a stone-topped dining table with rope chairs, olive cabinetry in the kitchenette, soft plaster walls, a guest room with its own quiet, and a changing room lined in teak. Art does the rest of the talking, from the beaded fiber piece over the dining table to the long horizon photograph on the cedar wall. Built to get used, and to still look good doing it.
